A walk along Montreux promenade
What struck me most about Montreux were the rich colours I was met with in every direction, whether it was the exotic flowers adorning the waterfront, or the Mediterranean-style pastel facades and their contrasting shutters. The layers of blue, a steely clear lake Geneva, still beneath a powerful mountain-scape is a vision. It is a small and sleepy city - perhaps because of the pandemic, or rather just the end of the summer season, but the experience of visiting Montreux was nevertheless a relaxing one. In spite of Montreux’s reputation for luxury, there was a lack of pretentiousness that one might not expect from visiting Switzerland. It is truly beautiful city with a unique charm, and one which has been a source of artistic inspiration for decades, for reasons which became obvious to me during my visit.
